The campus officially opened it's doors to Pisciners in May 2021, applications are open for upcoming Piscines via apply.42abudhabi.ae where your first step is to pass our online games.
WHERE IS THE CAMPUS LOCATED?
The brilliantly designed open-space campus is located in the heart of the Mina Zayed warehouses district, with unrestricted 24-hour access and a new-age industrial feel. There will be numerous smart spaces, meet-up lounges, indoor/outdoor dining, and creativity rooms where you can chill or work.
WHAT IS THE STUDENT CAPACITY?
There will be up to 750 ambitious coders when we reach full capacity.
WILL THERE BE SEPARATE MALE AND FEMALE CODING AREAS?
A big part of our learning model is based on collaboration, so the study areas will be mixed, however, there will be separate male and female lounge areas.
ARE THERE ANY CAMPUS EVENTS?

WHO CAN APPLY TO 42 ABU DHABI?

DO I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO CODE TO JOIN 42 ABU DHABI?
Everyone has to start somewhere, so we believe you don’t need any previous coding experience or other academic qualifications to apply. Just passion, determination, and ambition.
HOW CAN I APPLY TO 42 ABU DHABI?
The application process consists of 3 simple steps.
Step one is a series of games to test your memory and logic.
If you pass the games it’s onto step two, a virtual check-in where you’ll gain information about life at 42 Abu Dhabi, The Piscine, and where you’ll get to ask any questions you might have.
After that it’s onto step three, surviving The Piscine, an intensive 4-week program designed to assess your aptitude in coding.
If you survive The Piscine you’ll be invited to become a 42 Abu Dhabi coder.
WHAT IS THE PISCINE?
The Piscine is an intensive 4-week on-campus program where we’ll evaluate your aptitude in computer programming, endurance, and commitment to becoming a coder. Through The Piscine you’ll learn more about yourself and the 42 learning methodology.
WHEN DO APPLICATIONS CLOSE?
The applications to 42 Abu Dhabi are always open, however we adopt a first-come-first-serve basis selection process, so the sooner you apply the higher your chances of getting into one of the Piscines.
WHAT IS THE CAPACITY FOR A SINGLE PISCINE?
Each Piscine can accommodate up to 250 coders, this is based on the amount of iMacs available in the coding labs. Due to COVID-restrictions that number may vary to ensure the safety of all Pisciners and students.
CAN I REAPPLY IF I FAIL THE ADMISSION TEST OR THE PISCINE?
Coding is all about trial and error, failure and success; if you fail you may try again the following year.
HOW LONG IS THE 42 ABU DHABI COURSE?
The average time it takes to complete all 21 levels of the 42 program is approximately 3 years. You can work at your own pace and choose to take longer to complete the program, however the program’s levels have a specific timeframe for completion. So, if you continually run overtime and miss deadlines your situation will be assessed and may result in your disqualification.
WHAT DOES THE CURRICULUM INCLUDE?
There are 21 levels to the 42 program—as well as two 6 month internships—that cover over 16 different areas of study which include, but are not limited to: Algorithms & AI, Imperative Programming, Graphics, Technology Integration, Network & System Admin, Databases & Data, Object-oriented Programming, Functional Programming, Parallel Computing, Security, Web, Ruby, and Unix.
There are over 100 projects for you to explore and you have the freedom to branch out and discover any aspect of computer programming you’d like to specialize in.
WILL I ATTEND THE SCHOOL PHYSICALLY, OR STUDY REMOTELY?
Under normal circumstances you would need to complete the program on campus, in order to follow through with the peer-to-peer learning methodology. However due to Covid-19, provisions may be made for remote learning.
NO TEACHERS… WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED HELP?
Projects are often team-based and there is an extensive course framework to follow, so should you get stuck, you can turn to your peers for help. For any technical issues, the 42 Abu Dhabi team will assist in getting you back to learning.
WILL I BE SUPPLIED THE DEVICES NEEDED TO LEARN CODING?
There are specially equipped coding labs with iMacs in order for you to complete your projects. Further to this, you will have access to the online learning portal to complete parts of your projects through your personal computers. Note, due to Covid-19, provisions may be put in place for remote learning.
WILL THE FOOD FACILITIES ON CAMPUS BE CHARGED?
The 42 program might be tuition-free, however the food on campus is not.
CAN I TRANSFER TO A 42 SCHOOL IN ANOTHER COUNTRY?
Yes, you may transfer to another 42 campus upon the approval from said school.
CAN I STOP STUDYING HALFWAY THROUGH AND CONTINUE LATER ON?
Yes, you can. However, there are still set time limits you’ll need to stick to, you’ll be given a certain amount of time in which to complete each of the 21 levels, if you miss multiple deadlines then your position as a 42 Abu Dhabi coder may be forfeited. For example, your first ‘blackhole’ deadline is 77 days after starting the program, so if you do not complete any projects in the first 3 months then your position could be compromised.
CAN I BE EXPELLED?
You might be able to work at your own pace, but the program’s levels have a specific timeframe for completion. So, if you continually run overtime and miss deadlines your situation will be assessed and may result in your disqualification.
CAN I APPLY FOR A STIPEND?
We do not currently offer stipends, but are exploring options of offering stipends through various stakeholders; we hope that we’ll be able to announce an exciting outcome in the near future.
DOES 42 ABU DHABI HELP WITH RESIDENCY VISAS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS?
We do not currently offer residency visa aid; however, we are exploring this further. So, keep watching our social media channels for updates in the future.
DOES 42 ABU DHABI HAVE DORMS?
Currently there are no dorms for the 42 Abu Dhabi campus, however, we are looking into this for our future plans.
CAN WORKING PROFESSIONALS ATTEND 42 ABU DHABI?
The Piscine and Core phase are time-intensive and demanding, generally taking an average of 12 to 18 months to complete, in addition to a 6 months internship, therefore you’ll need to manage your time responsibly.
IS IT EASY TO MANAGE A FULL-TIME JOB AND STUDY CODING?
If you manage to complete the Core phase, you may find it easier to navigate the 42 program and manage your commitments and employment.
WHAT MEASURES HAVE BEEN PUT IN PLACE REGARDING COVID-19?
42 Abu Dhabi will strictly follow the government guidelines pertaining to health and safety protocols in order to ensure the wellbeing of the 42 Abu Dhabi community.

WILL 42 ABU DHABI GRADUATES RECEIVE RECOGNIZED CREDENTIALS?
The 42 Network is globally recognized and students are generally offered career paths and full-time employment before even completing the full program. The skills you learn as a 42 Abu Dhabi coder are largely recognized across today’s digital industry.
WHAT ARE MY OPPORTUNITIES ONCE I’VE GRADUATED?
There are many employment opportunities for 42 Abu Dhabi graduates.
