In line with its efforts to promote sustainable development and empower students to make environmentally-conscious choices, 42 Abu Dhabi hosted a workshop on sustainability, which was delivered by the esteemed AbdelQader AlSaqqaf, the UAE Youth Delegate to the United Nations. The workshop aimed to educate participants about eco-friendly practices and solutions that are vital for the long-term environmental, economic, and social well-being of our community.

AbdelQader AlSaqqaf, who was appointed as the UAE Youth Delegate to the United Nations in September 2022, brought a wealth of expertise to the workshop. His passion for driving positive change in sustainable development resonated with the students, inspiring them to make a difference within their own lives and communities through coding.
By hosting this workshop, 42 Abu Dhabi reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to sustainability and its integral role in fostering a generation of coders equipped to shape a greener future.

42 Abu Dhabi recently organized a Global Sustainability Hackathon in line with the UAE’s Year of Sustainability, held under the title “Code for a Greener Future and Sustainable Tomorrow”. The hackathon saw the participation of 153 students from the 42 Network schools across the UAE, Morocco, Portugal, Brazil, Malaysia, Korea, and Australia. By engaging students from across the globe, the hackathon served as a global opportunity for participants to collaborate, drive positive change and develop innovative ideas to tackle climate change and challenges related to sustainability.

42 Abu Dhabi also took part in a hackathon during AlReyada Energy Seminar, alongside students from other universities and institutions, to develop technologies which can reduce individuals’ carbon footprint. The seminar, organized by TotalEnergies in the UAE, was held in Khalifa University, and comes in line with the government’s efforts to foster a sustainable future for the coming generations.

In a recent workshop with BEACON RED, our students discovered the keys to successful project management using sustainable tools. They gained expertise in crafting project outlines, understanding project stages, utilizing various methodologies, defining scope, efficiently managing resources, and establishing timeframes.
